Dedicated Dance Workshop is moving!!!

After fourteen years of operation at the Currimundi Halls, the Friday night dance/teach session will be moving to the Kawana Community Hall, the same venue as our Monday night dances, as from the 7th February, 2025.

This change has been made as we are finding the floor sizes at Currimundi a little restrictive given the number of   dancers attending and the type of dances now being done.

Demand for the Kawana Hall is high, but we have been able to secure permanent bookings for the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Fridays of each month.

The dance format will be as close as possible to the Currimundi format with the same mix of comfortable and slightly harder dances still available.

 NEWSLETTER- December, 2024

We have reached the end of another year of dancing.

The atmosphere at our dances is always friendly, vibrant, and, above all, enjoyable. It is you, the dancers, who make this happen.

Thank you for your support.

As we say every year, we are a not-for-profit organisation, and, as such, have again been able to lend financial support to local   community groups.

Throughout the 2024 calendar year, we have once again been able to help the following groups:

  • Sunshine Linus Group - volunteers donate their time in order to produce items that are used to help ease the plight of deprived and homeless persons on the Coast.
  • Life Flight Foundation - the RACQ emergency rescue and medical transport helicopter operation that provides a rapid response to Coast residents in time of need.
  • Coastal Caring Clowns - these people visit hospitals and aged care facilities to make people who are having a tough time just a little happier.
  • Cittamani - providing support and care to Coast residents, and Carers, who are trying to deal with severe illness and bereavement.
  • Maroochy Neighbourhood Centre - providing support for homeless persons, those battling drug addiction, and victims of domestic violence.
  • Holy Trinity Church (Kawana) - providing food and support to homeless persons in our community.
  • Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland) - providing essential and life-saving medical support to regional areas of our state.
  • Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge - based at Tanawha, rehousing animals that would otherwise have no hope of a happy life.

Our last Monday night dance at Kawana will be on 16th December. This will be our Xmas Dance.

There will not be a NYE dance at Kawana this year as the Hall is unavailable.

The first dance for 2025 will be on Monday, 13th January. We will make this our “New Year” dance with tables, tea/coffee all night,  and BYO nibblies for your table. Entry will be FREE and all are welcome.

The Friday night dances that have been held at Currimundi will be moving to Kawana on the 1st , 3rd, and 5th Fridays of each month,   our first dance for 2025 being on 7th February.

Rising costs, particularly hall rental, has started to impact the amount of assistance that we can provide to local charities. Entry prices moved to $5.00 in 2018, and we have been absorbing price increases since then. We will be increasing the dance entry price to $7.00 per dancer from the start of the 2025 dance year. This will apply to all dances, both SSD and DDW.

We are expecting 2025 to be another enjoyable year, and look forward to sharing that year with you all.
