NEWS:
NEWSLETTER-
December, 2023
We have
reached the end of another successful year of dancing.
The atmosphere
at our dances is always friendly, vibrant, and, above all,
enjoyable. The volume of ‘chatter’ between dances is a good
indication of the amount of social interaction that is going on. It
is the dancers, you, who make this happen.
Thank you for
your support.
As we say
every year, we are a not-for-profit organisation, and, as such, have
again been able to lend financial support to local community groups.
Throughout the
2023 calendar year, we
have been able to donate a total of
$20,000.00
that has been spread over the
following groups:
- Sunshine Linus Group –
volunteers donate their time in order to produce items that are
used to help ease the plight of deprived and homeless persons on
the Coast
- Smart Pups Assistance Dogs –
training dogs to be used to help persons who are dealing with
disabilities to lead a more independent life.
- Life Flight Foundation –
this is the RACQ emergency rescue and medical transport
helicopter operation that provides a rapid response to Coast
residents in time of need.
- Coastal Caring Clowns -
these people visit hospitals and aged care facilities to make
people who are having a tough time just a little happier
- Cittamani – providing
support and care to Coast residents, and Carers, who are trying
to deal with severe illness and bereavement
- Carers Qld. – providing
support for those who are acting as Carers for others by giving
those Carers support and respite.
- Maroochy Neighbourhood Centre –
providing support for homeless persons, those battling drug
addiction, and victims of domestic violence.
- Sunshine Charity Sewing Group –
Similar to the Linus Group, this group of volunteers support not
only local persons in need but also distribute their items to
regional areas.
- Royal Flying Doctor Service
(Queensland) – providing essential and life-saving
medical support to regional areas of our state.
-
Sunshine Coast Animal
Refuge – based at
Tanawha, this group works tirelessly at rehousing animals that
would otherwise have no hope of a happy life.
Our last
Monday night dance at Kawana will be on 11th December.
This is our Xmas Dance and it is a free night for all. The first
dance for 2024 will be on Monday, 15th January.
We are expecting 2024 to be another enjoyable
year, and look forward to sharing that year with you all.
