COVID UPDATE:

We have been advised, by Ausdance, that couples dancing is again permitted under restrictions as stipulated by Queensland Health.

Restrictions:
    1.  Limited numbers
    2.  Social distancing
    3.  Hand hygiene
    4.  Attendance records for Contact Tracing

These requirements will be in place in all dances until further changes are advised by Queensland Health.

Cheers, and stay safe.

NEWS:

The safety of our dancers is always at the forefront of our minds.

We are constantly monitoring the Queensland Health website so that we are keeping abreast of developments in the battle against Covid-19, and our dances are always run in keeping with the requirements of the offical COVID SAFE CHECKLIST. This means that we must limit numbers at all of our dances and anyone wishing to attend a particular dance MUST get in touch with us to check availability. Names and contact information is kept for all dance attendees (dancers and visitors alike). Chairs are cleaned at each dance session, and hand sanitisers are provided for your use.

NEWSLETTER - May, 2021

Hi Folks,

Just a quick note to keep you informed!

We are still running under Covid restrictions and there is no end in sight as yet.

There has been some relaxation in relation to distancing while on the dance floor as stated in the latest Dance and Physical Performing Arts (DPPA) Covid Safe Plan, Version 6. This means that we can ease up a little on the number of people on the dance floor as well as the need to space chairs. We still need to adhere to the “Get In, Dance, Get Out” philosophy as well as hand hygiene, especially in relation to partner changing, which must still be kept to a minimum. We still need to take and keep information for contact tracing, hence the need to know exactly who is coming to each and every dance.

Your support of SSD and DDW dances has allowed us to continue to donate money to help the local community.

All donations are made in your name, the dancers of SSD and DDW, and letters of gratitude that we get back are addressed to the dancers. You should feel proud that, while we are enjoying ourselves and getting fit, we are also helping others.

Mike left SSD in our hands a bit under four years ago.

Given a low $5.00 dance entry charge, we have been able to give away a surprising amount of money. We have passed out over $30,000.00 in the last two weeks making a total of $96,550.00 in less than four years. Not too shabby!!! Give yourself a pat on the back!!!

In that time, we have made donations to

  • Al Taylor For Kids

  • Sunshine Coast SES

  • Carers Queensland

  • Cittamani

  • Coastal Caring Clowns

  • Days For Girls Maroochydore

  • Hospital Art Australia

  • RACQ Life Flight Foundation

  • Nambour Local Ambulance Committee

  • Smart Pups Assistance Dogs

  • STEMM

  • Sunshine Linus Inc.

  • Sunshine Coast PCYC

  • Uniting Care Community

  • West Woombye Rural Fire Brigade

So, keep dancing and all of us, including the wider community, will reap the benefits.

Cheers, and Stay Safe.         Suncoast Social Dancers
